Minnesota Renaissance Festival / 09-15-12

On Saturday, 09-15-12, I went to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for the third time this year. I take my camera and just walk around for the day. I don't have an agenda on what I want to see when I go...maybe I should. It's hit or miss on what I end up photographing. Although I do stay for the "Drum Jam" at the end of the day to get some dancing images. Thank you ladies....

These are the first images from the Renaissance Festival this year that I've posted on my website. A lot of these images have been posted on Facebook, but there are many more images that I haven't posted anywhere. Previously I've also posted some images on my FB wall from the other two days I went to the festival, but I still need to go through all those images before I put them up on my website. Eventually I'll get to them...

I have a link after these posted images  to the gallery for 09-15-12. There is another link to other festival galleries from last year as well...

I'll probably go to the festival one or two more times before the last day on 09-30-12.

Brenna Warren / Stone Arch Bridge Area / Minneapolis

Earlier another photographer, Bill Houlton, and I signed up for a photo shoot for Sunday, 09-09-12, through a local photography club. I've been to the location where this group was going to meet a couple times so I wasn't all that excited to go again. There were going to be 100 or so other people so another reason I wasn't too excited to go.

I asked Bill if I got a model to shoot if he would want to go down to the Stone Arch Bridge area for a photo shoot instead of the other photo shoot on Sunday. He was agreeable...

I posted on my Facebook wall that I was looking for a model for either Saturday, 09-08-12 or Sunday, 09-09-12 to go to the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis. Brenna Warren was the first model to respond. Brenna told me she could do it on Saturday. I've photographed Brenna before at the studio. "Brenna Studio Images"

I looked at the weather for Saturday evening and the temperature was going to be much cooler that a week ago when I was there with another model, Eden Alemayehu, and photographer, Doug Juenemann. It was in the low 80's, warm and no wind...

On Saturday I checked the weather...although it was going to be in the low 70's at 5 pm when we going to start, but the wind was up around 17 mph. Good thing I had another photographer around to hold the light stand. It was supposed to drop to the low 60's, but with the wind it would be cool for the model standing around. I asked Brenna to bring a jacket...I also had a blanket in the Suburban that I planned to take with us to wrap around Brenna in case she needed to change. She ended up wrapping her self in the blanket a couple times to stay warm.

I made arrangement to meet Brenna Warren at my studio then we would drive to the Stone Arch Bridge and meet up with Bill.

It was too windy to set up my lights on the bridge so we walked down below. I told Bill and Brenna that the wind was supposed to die down at sunset. Well, if it did I couldn't tell...

Below are some of the images I took during the evening...Thank you Brenna for a fun evening...we will do it again soon...it might be cool when we do it again but maybe it will be calm out! Thanks Bill for coming along and holding the light stands when needed...most of the time. Bill got to shoot, too!

Eden Alemayehu / Stone Arch Bridge / Minneapolis

On Friday, 08-31-12, I posted on Facebook in the morning that was thinking about going to the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis to do a photo shoot at 5 pm that afternoon. Now all I needed was a model!

A short time later fellow photographer, Doug Juenemann, responded that he had already set up to do a shoot at the Stone Arch Bridge with Eden Alemayehu. I had about an hour left in my bike ride so I told Doug I would contact him when I got back home.

When I got back home I told Doug I would meet them at the Bridge.

I met both Doug and Eden in the parking lot. Doug was just going to shoot with his Nikon D800 and a speedlight. He was going to travel light.

I got out my Multicart R12 and filled it up with my Elinchrom Ranger, Elinchrom Quadras, maxilight, 39" deep Octa, light stands, Think Tank Airport Addicted camera bag, reflector/diffusor and I'm sure I had something else....just can't think of it right now. Oh, I left the tripod in the Suburban...

We started off shooting on top of the bridge and later made our way below it. We shot until about 8:15 pm. It was a very nice evening for a photo shoot.

I've already made arrangements with Brenna, another model, to go back to the Stone Arch Bridge this Saturday, 09-07-12. This time I will include the tripod for some longer exposures. Another photographer, Bill Houlton, will join us for this adventure. I say adventure because Eden was scaling walls for us to get some shots of her. In fact. I had to scale those same walls to set up my lights. Maybe I'll get Bill to do it this time :)

Below are some of the images of the shoot with Eden...
