Brother & Sister...

On Saturday, May 29, 2010, Chris Gerber and I planned to get together at his place to do a little photo shoot. Chad Davey was also invited to come along.

Chris had been planning to do a shoot with JeAnn Graham for awhile.

Chris had plans for shooting JeAnn inside this home, while I had use of his garage.

About three months ago I bought some studio lights and some modifiers. I bought some Elinchrom RX600 monlights using the Skyport trigger system. A couple weeks ago I was finally able to use the lights and the 27" beauty dish.

I bought some other light modifiers that I also wanted to try out. I had a 53" deep octabox, 27" x 27" softbox and a 14" x 35" strip light that needed some use.

I made arrangement with Shelley H., who works where I work, to bring Ashley to the shoot. I've photgraphed Ashey a few other times, but this time Shelley was going to bring her youngest son, Tyler.

This would be Tyler's first time having his photos taken with off camera lighting.

The photo of Ashley, below, was done inside with a Elinchrom RX600 with the 27" x27" softbox.

It was a full day of shooting. It was an extremely hot day to be in the sun as it got to the mid 90's.

Thanks Chris for the use of your home for the photo shoot.

The photos with the white background were done with a Elinchrom RX600 with the 53" Octabox with just the internal baffle on camera right. Another RX600 to the rear on camera left with the strip light. I used two SB-900 Nikon speedlights in slave mode to light the background. Some of the photos had the speedlights set at full power and some were taken at half power.

The photo of Ashley, below, was taken using an Alien Bee ringflash.

The next two photos of Tyler with taken with the RX600 and the 53" Octabox.

On Camera Flash shoot

On Sunday, 05-23-10, I went over by Como Park for a quick photo shoot. I used my speedlight on my camera something I hardly ever do. I didn't stay long so I didn't have many shots. Here are a couple photos.

Vincent Kleidon, "Vinnie"

I'm still working on my photos from the photo shoot at the Commemorative Air Force. I've posted some up on my Flickr. When I'm done I'll post them on the blog.

I'm also looking for a female model for a photo shoot this coming Saturday morning, 05-29-10. There will be two other photographers and we each will have a different model. I will be using my Elinchrom mono lights with 53" deep octa and beauty dish.

Contact me if interested and I'll give you more details.

Ben Zvan's High-end Photoshoot

On Sunday, 05-17-10, several of us got together for Ben Zvan’s High-end photo shootout at the Minnnesota Wing Commemoraative Air Force. in South St.Paul.

There were 13 photographers and about 6 models. Joe Mamer, Andy and I shot together. I was finally able to use my new Elinchrom RX600 strobes and a 27” beauty dish. I have three softboxes as well, but they will be used indoors. The beauty dish doesn’t blow around as much in the wind.

Our first model to shoot was Rachel . This was the first time meeting Rachel. She was a pleasure to shoot.

The next location had us with Catherine . This was the first time I’ve met Catherine as well.

The third station was already set up with a jeep and pink background paper. This was going to be the pin-up shoot. By the time we got there the model who had been there was leaving.

Rachel was going to switch places. Rachel had only a jacket with some nylons. She had a hard time moving around in the jeep, so she needed to change into something, well lets say, comfortable. While Rachel was changing Amy Stine stepped in for her. Once Rachel was done changing both Amy and her posed for us in and around the jeep. I,ve been to about three oter shoots with Amy. In fact it has been a year. The first time I met her was last year at this same place.

Afterwards we shot Amy by another aircraft. We had about 6 hours of shooting. The weather cooperated , also. Fun was had by all or at least I think so.

The Elinchrom lights with the Skyports worked out very well. It was nice to be able to adjust both lights from the camera without having to constantly drop the lights down then raise them back up.

I only have a few photos done right now. I will get some more up when I get some time. I’m still very busy with work. I usually am one of the first to get the models their photos, but me being so busy at work it might be a little longer.

Thank you to all that participated on Sunday.

Two Different Photo Shoots...

Yesterday, 05-01-10, in the morning I went to a photography meet-up with the Twin Cities Photography Club. It was called the Spring Wildflower Photo Hike at Rapids Lake Unit, Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Carver.

There weren't a whole lot of flowers and it was extremely windy. I didn't take as many photos of flowers because of the wind.

Later in the evening, I decided to go to Minneapolis down by the Stone Arch Bridge near where I went a few days ago. I took some more shots at night.

I ended up going to bed late, then at 0119 hrs I got called into work. Today, I was there for over 16 hours. I'm pretty tired, so I'll end here.
