Here are some images of Bruce McCabe & The Rich Poor Men. Bruce on keys, Mick Massof on bass, John Franken on guitar and Jeff Rogers on drums at Smokin’ in Steele. Bruce’s cousin, Larry McCabe, on trombone played with the guys this afternoon, also.

This event was presented by the Owatonna Knights of Columbus to benefit the Special Olympics.
I couldn’t make Day One of the Festival because I worked Friday evening, so I missed the Sena Ehrhardt Band, Boom Boom Steve V & the Knockouts and Reverend Raven & the CSAB. I wasn’t planning on going to the festival at all because of work, but when I woke up on Saturday, 06-04-11, it was such a nice day that I decided I needed to go and listen to some “Blues” music. Although, I was “on call” I would bring my work phone just in case I was called and needed to go in.
Arriving in Owatonna a little after 12 pm I could hear Annie Mack singing so I began walking toward the sound of her voice where she was singing on the outdoor stage. She was playing with the Mark Cameron Band. Little did I know at the time they would be the only band to play outdoors on the stage other than a short set by Mike Fugazzi and Drew Hurst. All the other bands would be playing inside the Beer Garden.
While walking around I talked to some old friends and met a few new ones while Annie and Mark were playing. One “new” person I met was Dew Wuiff with Mississippi Blues Club. We spoke several times during the evening while standing near the speakers so maybe it was more like visual contact than verbal communication.
I took photos of all the bands that played on Sunday, so I’ll post them when I’m done editing them. I probably have enough miscellaneous photos to post as a gallery as well.
Here are a few photos of Annie Mark and The Mark Cameron Band. There’s a link to more photos at the end of the post.

Now that I posted all these indoor images I guess I should have posted some outdoor ones. Oh, well...maybe next time!It appears summer is here in the Minnesota area, but now all it has to do is stop raining so much.
This week-end is the start of the outdoor “Blues” Festival season in Minnesota. This week-end it’s Smokin’ in Steele in Owatonna, MN. Unfortunately, I have to work and I’m also on call, so this festival is a no go for me.
Here are some festivals that I’m either going to go to or I am planning to see this summer. Everything is subject to change!!!
Well, I’ll start with an outdoor concert at Lake Harriett Bandshell. OK, not a festival, but it’s outdoors, since I need to stay around town.
Sunday, 06-04-11 Davina and the Vagabonds. Music starts at 2 pm.
Saturday, 06-11-11 Famous Dave’s Blues Festival
Saturday, 06-18-11 There are two different music events (yes, there probably are more). Hambone Music Festival in Rochester, MN that actually starts on Friday, 06-17-11 or the Santiago Shakedown. As of right now I’m planning to go to the Santiago Shakedown.

Friday, 07-08-11 and Saturday, 07-09-11 Thunder Bay Blues Festival (Ontario, CA)
Saturday, 07-16-11Lakefront Jazz and Blues Festival in Prior Lake, MN
Thursday, 07-21-11 - Sunday, 07-24-11 Stillwater Lumberjack Days. Although this isn’t a Blues Festival they usually have music in the evening. I’ll have to see what bands are playing before I make a decision. As of a couple days ago the music schedule wasn’t posted.
